Street Rods for Pitman High School's Homecoming at Turlock High School Stadium.
Presented by Rocknrod.com and Friends of Rocknrod.com
RNR and Friends of RNR along with a number of sponsors helped Pitman High School with there Homecoming celebration Friday Night October 5th, 2007 with street rods for the Homecoming court. They wanted to be different this year, so they asked for only one convertible for the reigning homecoming queen which was provided by Rob. The plan was for 10 street rods which we had at the dry run Wednesday at Pitman High's track. Unfortunately, the much dreaded thing of a no show did happen Friday night, we lost one that had a change of mind and decided not to participate. We did some fast shuffling and the event went off as if the missing car was never a part which was a relief. Those in attendance never new we were short a car, so for once things worked out great. The missing car did cause some of the keepsake plaques from being given out to the homecoming court members
and drivers. They will have to be given out after being remade from new pictures. The School's resident yearbook photographer
David Jack took some make up pictures to use on the redo plaques. So hopefully the new plaques will be given to those who missed out very shortly.
We were treated to some nice snacks as we waited for halftime to arrive. Everyone ended up watching the game since we had a good vantage point where we were located. Oh yea... Pitman won 36 to 6 over Buhach Colony High School (Atwater, CA). Way to go Pitman... |

Check the scoreboard in the photo above, this was the halftime score. |

Friday Night Homecoming Photo Gallery as the rods arrived and the dads helped each of the girls out of the cars.
The flash didn't go off on one of the photos, I went ahead and placed it in the album after doctoring it as much as I could. |

| Special Dash Plaques for the Rods... |

I created some special dash plaques for the owners of rods as keepsakes.
Dash plaques are a traditional thing at almost all car shows these days.
Each owner driver received a dash plaque at Les Schwab Tire's parking lot.
The dash plaques are typically displayed at car shows.
The actual measurements are about 3" x 2".
The dash plaque has all 10 of the original cars on it. |

Right after Tim dropped the announcers off, they came through throwing small green Pitman footballs to the fans. |

Each street rod had one member of the homecoming court in it except Tim who had the 2 announcers in his car.. |

| Elizabeth was in charge of coordinating the event with us. I met with Elizabeth and her dad at the Kool Cars for Charity Car Show at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds so she could see some of the cars and meet the owners. |
|
The following 9 rods took part in the homecoming by bringing the homecoming court
onto the field. From the sound of the audience, I think the street rods were a major hit.
As each of the rods pulled up to the stage, each Girl's Dad all decked out, walked
over to the rod, opened the door and helped his daughter exit it. |
| The following photos are recent pictures of each of the rods that took part. |
I would like to personally thank Rob, Nina, Jimmy, Kelsie, Marty, Tim, Bob, Margeley and Leonard for making Friday Night a spectacular success. How do I know it was a success you ask, well standing at the stage taking pictures of all the rods as they came in gave me an opportunity to listen and see the audience in the stadium, they told me it was a success.
I would also like to thank Tammy very much for her help with the keepsake sponsors. Without her help the keepsakes would not have been possible.
And finally, I would like to thank Elizabeth, working with her made this easier with her coordinating things between us (Friends of Rocknrod and the school).
So a big thank you to all of you, you helped make the 2007 Pitman High School Homecoming just a little bit special. |
